Instructions
-
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. -
Prepare the apples:
Peel and core the apples, then cut each into 8 slices. -
Wrap the apples:
Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles. Place one apple slice on each triangle and roll it up starting at the wide end. Pinch the edges to seal and place each dumpling in the prepared baking dish. -
Make the syrup:
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until well combined (it will be thick and grainy — that’s okay). -
Pour the syrup:
Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dumplings. Then, slowly pour the Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan (not directly over the dumplings). -
Bake:
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the sauce is bubbling. -
Serve:
Spoon warm syrup over each dumpling before serving. Enjoy as is, or top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
