Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish or two 8-inch round pans.
2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, pudding mix, milk, oil, eggs, and sour cream. Beat on medium speed for 2–3 minutes until smooth and thick.
3. Stir in the chocolate chips gently with a spatula.
4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
6. Once cooled, spread a generous layer of whipped topping over the cake.
7. Drizzle chocolate syrup or hot fudge sauce on top and sprinkle with additional chocolate chips.
8. Chill the cake for at least 1 hour before serving for best texture and flavor.
