Monterey Sausage Pie

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cook the Sausage Mixture:
In a large skillet, cook the sausage, onion, and green pepper over medium heat until the sausage is browned and crumbly. Drain any excess grease and let it cool slightly.

  3. Layer the Pie:
Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese into the bottom of the unbaked pie shell. Spoon the sausage mixture evenly over the cheese. Top with the remaining cheese.

  4. Mix the Egg Filling:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano until well combined.

  5. Assemble:
Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and cheese in the pie shell.

  6. Bake:
Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden.

  7. Cool & Serve:
Allow the pie to cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
