Instructions
1. Make the Cake:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
-
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
-
Gradually stir in hot water (or coffee) until the batter is well combined — it will be thin, that’s okay!
-
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
-
Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
2. Prepare the Brigadeiro Frosting:
-
In a saucepan, combine condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter over medium heat.
-
Stir constantly until thickened (about 10 minutes).
-
Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream and vanilla for a silky, pourable consistency.
3. Assemble the Cake:
-
Poke small holes across the surface of the cooled cake using a fork or skewer.
-
Pour the warm brigadeiro frosting evenly over the cake, letting it soak slightly into the holes.
-
Generously sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on top.
-
Let the frosting set for at least 30 minutes before serving.
