Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the grated apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and lemon juice.
3. Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, for about 5–7 minutes, until the apples are soft and the liquid has mostly evaporated. Let it cool completely.
4. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle.
5. Spread the cooled apple filling evenly over the entire surface of the pastry.
6. Starting from one end, gently roll the pastry into a tight log.
7. Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices using a sharp knife.
8. Place the rolls cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
9. Brush the tops with a beaten egg for a golden finish.
10. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the swirls are golden brown and puffed.
11. Let them cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
