Homemade Kool-Aid Licorice Ropes

Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1 package (0.13 oz) unsweetened Kool-Aid (any flavor)
3 tbsp unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup boiling water
1/4 tsp citric acid (optional, for a tangy kick)
Cooking spray or light oil, for greasing
Instructions
Step 1: Bloom the Gelatin
In a small bowl, mix the unflavored gelatin with 1/2 cup boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved. Set aside.

Step 2: Make the Candy Syrup
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, and 1/4 cup water.

Bring to a gentle boil, stirring often, until sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to thicken slightly (about 3–4 minutes).

Step 3: Flavor and Combine
Remove the syrup from heat and stir in the Kool-Aid powder and citric acid (if using).

Mix in the dissolved gelatin mixture until smooth and uniform.

Step 4: Shape the Ropes
Lightly grease silicone candy molds or a parchment-lined tray.

Carefully pour the mixture into rope-shaped molds or pipe into long strips using a squeeze bottle.

Let cool at room temperature for 2–3 hours, or until fully set.

Step 5: Unmold and Enjoy
Gently remove the licorice from the molds.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
